Here at Black Hawk Border Collies we strive to produce the best puppies. Our breeding dogs have been genetic health tested through Animal Genetics or Embark and love doing sports such as obedience, disk, fast cat and dock diving.

The price of our puppies varies based on health tests and titles between the dam and sire.
​
We require a $500 holding fee once puppies have been evaluated and approved applicants are notified of their selections. Holding fees are deducted from the purchase price. All holding fees are NONREFUNDABLE!

We do not let buyers choose their own puppy. We ask potential buyers to give us a very detailed description of their energy level and exercise routine. We evaluate the puppies in the litter over the course of 8 weeks to see how their energy and drive develops and we pair them with the home that we deem most appropriate for each individual puppies needs. We refuse to send a active pup to a mellow home or a mellow pup to an active home.

All potential buyers are required to fill out a questionnaire. Once the questionnaire is submitted and approved the potential buyer will be asked to sign a contract before or at the time of pick up. If a potential buyer refuses to fill out the questionnaire or sign the contract we will refuse to sell them a puppy. Black Hawk Border Collies reserves the right to refuse sale to anybody who we feel is not the best candidate for one of our dogs with no explanations given.

We highly encourage all of our buyers to come meet our dogs so that they get an idea of what to expect with their new family member. Buyers are welcome to come visit our puppies after they have received their first vaccine at 7 weeks of age. We will also send our buyers weekly updates so that they can see their potential puppies growth progress.

Buyers are more than welcome to come to our home and pick up their puppy when they are of proper age. We do offer shipping (ground or air at the buyers expense) if the buyer is unable to drive to us.

All of our puppies will be sent home between 9 and 12 weeks of age and will only go home if they have been fully paid off. Any puppy not paid off by planned pick up date will be concidered available again and no refunds will be given to the buyer.

All of our puppies will have a medium/rough coat as adults. We will never produce short coats unless we use an outside stud with a short coat.

Before our puppies go to their homes they will be started on crate/kennel training. They will begin house training as soon as possible so that they have little to no accidents once they go home. We will also begin teaching them basic commands such as sit, lay down, leave it, and come. They will be socialized with water, baths, nail trims, brushing, ear cleaning, being handled as if they are at a vet or groomer, other dogs, cats, children, adults, loud noises, different surfaces such as tile, carpet, grass, concrete, etc.

Puppies will go home with a puppy package that will include a small bag of what they are currently eating, a health certificate from our vet if being shipped or leaving California, a copy of their shot and de-worming record, collar, leash, their favorite toy, and their AKC and/or ABCA registration will be mailed out once we have registered names for the entire litter submitted.

ALL dogs produced here at Black Hawk Border Collies are required to come back to us if the owner is no longer able to properly care for or no longer wants the dog. This is to prevent the dog from going to a shelter/rescue and to make sure that the dog goes to a good home. If we are unable to take in the dog, we will help the owner find an appropriate home. All new potential buyers are also required to fill out our questionnaire and sign our contracts after being approved by both the previous owner and myself.
